Watermelon Juice is good for the body.

It’s high in nutrition, a low-calorie way to satisfy the sweet tooth. Drinking a glass of watermelon juice on those hot summer days is a great way to stay hydrated.

  1. Watermelon contains lycopene. Lycopene is responsible for the red color of the fruit. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant and is highly effective at removing free radicals. Studies have shown that people who eat a lot of lycopene-rich foods have a lower instance of heart disease. It protects the cardiovascular system and prevents plaque build-up in blood vessels. Watermelon juice helps to prevent cholesterol from clogging arteries and can increase HDL (the good cholesterol). Other essential vitamins in this fruit play an important role in reducing the risks of heart attacks, strokes, colon and prostate cancer.
  2. Watermelon is an excellent diuretic and beneficial to the kidneys. Its diuretic properties help eliminate excess fluids from the body to reduce water retention, especially for women during their monthly menstruation cycle.
  3. Watermelon is a cleansing, mineralizing, alkalinizing, natural diuretic. It is effective for healing kidney and bladder problems. Watermelon juice cleanses the body of toxic wastes, as the powerful anti-oxidant in watermelon reduces toxic matter in the body.
  4. The anti-inflammatory properties of watermelon promote faster recovery from workouts and strenuous activities. Watermelon is rich in flavonoids, carotenoids like lycopene, beta-carotene and other compounds that fight inflammation called triterpenoids.
  5. The watermelon rind is edible and contains L-citrulline, and this amino acid works in the body to remove lactic acid from muscles, easing muscle soreness. Lactic acid is responsible for the muscle soreness and fatigue that you feel after performing physical exercise or strenuous activities. To reduce the amount of lactic acid in your muscles, drink a glass of watermelon juice before or after performing physical exercises and strenuous activities.
  6. The watermelon rind contains zinc which works to fight impotence. The amino acid citrulline is found specifically in high amounts within watermelon juice and is converted into arginine, an essential amino acid for improving blood flow and relaxing blood vessels.
  7. Watermelon is referred to as ‘Natures Viagra’. The arginine produced when eating watermelon relaxes the blood vessels, this is the same basic concept of how Viagra works. Vitamins A, B6, and C are just a few of the nutrients that make watermelon such a healthy food to eat.

How to Make Watermelon Juice

  1. Scrub the outside of the watermelon with a scrubbing brush and apple cider vinegar to remove any sprays or waxes.
  2. Cut the watermelon, including the rind into strips just big enough to fit into your juicer’s feed.
  3. Turn on the juicer and slowly feed the strips through.

Remember: The rind is full of beneficial nutrients and it is worth juicing.
